Motel really Rocks

28 Dec

If like me your wardrobe is bursting with too many items of clothing than you’ll ever know what to do with, choosing something to wear can sometimes be a nightmare… And it definitely doesn’t get any easier over the festive period.

Planning the perfect outfit for those all important Christmas and New Year parties can leave you feeling worn out before they’ve even started.

You know that everyone from your boss to your second cousin once removed will be scoping you out, and if that isn’t enough, you can guarantee the pictures will be brandished all over every social network site going, even if you don’t have an account! (And yes this does happen to me, thanks Wardrobe ladies)

So, do you wear something you already have and risk that office know it all or so called friend mentioning they’ve seen you in it before? Or do you splash out on something new and risk never wearing it again?

Or… do you get your hands on something so lovely that not only will your work mates and friends be impressed, but you’ll look so great, you won’t ever want to part with it! That’s what happened to me recently, when The Motel Gabby Sequin Dress saved the day.

Just like Cinderella, (well not quite) I was getting ready to go to the ball (actually my office party) when I realised I had absolutely nothing to wear (nothing nice enough that is)

As I was starting to give up hope and thought that I might not go, just like my fairy godmothers, the lovely ladies at Motel Rocks swept in, sprinkled their magical  dust and saved the day, sending over this sparkly beauty  just hours before I had to get ready for the ball… I mean party.

I tried it on and it was a perfect fit! So I teamed it with black tights (it is December after all), purple lips and chunky black suede shoes, before I jumped in my carriage (taxi) and was whisked away.

The Motel Rocks Sequin Gabby Dress can be yours for just £29 in the sale, down from £58.

I got so many compliments about my dress that it made my night! One lady even said I looked like a movie star, but she was 65! Anyway I love this Motel Rocks dress so much, that I’m definitely wearing it again on New Years eve.

And if you want to see in your 2012 in style too, Motel Rocks have hundreds of gorgeous and unique dresses on their website…. And at the minute, there’s a massive sale, so grab yourself a bargain. To visit their site click here or follow any of the links in the post. There’s still time to get that perfect party frock!!!

Have you visited Motel Rocks? What’s you’re favourite item?

Nicola Roberts shows off her Alexander McQueen knuckle duster clutch

As we head into party season, the search for the perfect outfit begins. There can be so many parties in the run up to Christmas and the New Year that to buy a new outfit for each would be too expensive, so why not splash out on accessories instead?

A statement bag or necklace can instantly update last season’s party dress for the festive season at a fraction of the cost of buying a load of new dresses, playsuits and shoes that will rarely make it out of your wardrobe once the new year arrives.

One accessory that is both practical and edgy this season is the knuckle duster clutch bag. Not just a bag, and not quite a ring; this cool clutch makes a statement and is also quite sensible too.

Anyone will know the perils of a clutch bag after one drink too many – all too often it can end up dropped on the floor, abandoned or even worse lost (or maybe that’s just me?!). But the joy of a knuckle duster clutch is that no matter how intoxicated you are, your belongings are going nowhere!

Also you know that guy at the bar who won’t leave you alone…the really lecherous one who thinks it’s acceptable to grope you and try it on while you politely try and get away? He won’t be getting quite so close once he feels the force of your clutch around his face! **

(**NOTE: Wardrobe does not in anyway condone violence, we’re just merely listing the benefits of a knuckle duster clutch 😉 )

My favourite would be the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster Clutch from Net-a-Porter. With his trademark skull motif on the Swarovski crystal-embellished knuckle duster, it adds some serious attitude to an outfit, but at £795 it kind of defeats the object of not buying clothes in an attempt to save money!

Alexander McQueen £795

Get the look on the high street with this bag from River Island, £29.99. Leopard print and with a ring handle, it adheres to a couple of the big trends this winter.

River Island have a few similar bags, including this silver box clutch, £29.99

River Island, £29.99

This Religion Knuckle Duster bag is very similar to the Alexander McQueen with a similar skull ring on the elaborate handle. At £50 (and currently with 30% off at USC) it is a much more affordable and viable option!

So what do you think of the knuckle duster clutch bags? What are you going to wear to your Christmas parties this year?

Cooler than the Red Dress

When it comes to party outfits, it’s all too easy to opt for the failsafe LBD for a classic and timeless look. However, if you want to stand out from the crowd this winter take note from the celebs below who prove that it’s all about the LRD (Little Red Dress).

Simple yet sexy, the LRD makes a statement without the need for fussy accessories or too much effort. Much like the LBD, a red dress will also become a wardrobe staple as everyone always loves a Lady In Red!

You may be unsure that red will work for you, but as Alexa, Georgia May and Michelle show, there is a little red dress to suit all skin tones.

Georgia May Jagger matched her lippie to this gorgeous lace trim red dress at a party, while Megan Fox took it a step further matching her LRD to the red carpet at a premiere earlier this year.
