Cooler than the Red Dress

29 Oct

When it comes to party outfits, it’s all too easy to opt for the failsafe LBD for a classic and timeless look. However, if you want to stand out from the crowd this winter take note from the celebs below who prove that it’s all about the LRD (Little Red Dress).

Simple yet sexy, the LRD makes a statement without the need for fussy accessories or too much effort. Much like the LBD, a red dress will also become a wardrobe staple as everyone always loves a Lady In Red!

You may be unsure that red will work for you, but as Alexa, Georgia May and Michelle show, there is a little red dress to suit all skin tones.

Georgia May Jagger matched her lippie to this gorgeous lace trim red dress at a party, while Megan Fox took it a step further matching her LRD to the red carpet at a premiere earlier this year.

Jessica Stam opts for a muted red bandeau dress.

If Alexa Chung wears it, you know it’s a trend! Here the TV presenter dresses down her Versus dress with some flat court shoes, while Eva Longoria-Parker opts for true Hollywood glamour in a one-shoulder red dress.

Finding your perfect LRD ahead of the party season is no more difficult than heading to the high street, where there are different shapes, tones and styles to suit everyone. I love this bandeau dress from River Island (£49.99) which is exclusive to the website. They also have a body con jersey dress (£49.99), which is available both in store and online.

Michelle Williams attended her latest film premiere in a red lace dress from Erdem. You can recreate the look with this gorgeous Peter Pan lace swing dress from Topshop (£48).

Personally, I opted for this asymmetric dress from Miss Selfridge (£38), and think I have received more positive comments about it than any other dress I’ve ever owned (and I own a lot of dresses!) The style is pretty simple so I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it for seasons to come. Plus, look at the arm candy it bagged me 😉
