It’s awards season in the film industry and last night was the turn of the BAFTA’s. Another red carpet for us to enjoy and plenty of great gowns on display.
One of my favourite actresses, Audrey Tautou, arrived in a pink Lanvin dress. I’m not usually a fan of pink but she manages not to clash horribly with the red carpet!
Pretty in pink
British newcomer Carey Mulligan is one to watch, both for her style and her acting. She wore a Vionnet dress to the BAFTA’s and I’m absolutely loving the shoes.
Carey won a BAFTA for best leading actress
Another one of my favourites, mainly because of the Channel 4 programme Shameless, is Anne-Marie Duff, who’s married to the lovely James McAvoy. The pregnant actress matched the red carpet in an Alberta Ferretti gown.
The actress missed out on a BAFTA for best supporting actress
Equally pregnant director of Nowhere Boy, Sam Taylor-Wood, wore an Alexander McQueen dress and had some arm candy in the form of her 19-year-old (yes 19) fiancĂ©, Aaron Johnson. I’m very jealous!
The couple met on the set of Nowhere Boy
Kate Winslet also attended the awards ceremony last night. The British star stuck with classic black in Stella McCartney.
Showing off her curves in a classic LBD
White seemed to be a popular colour at the awards, with Saoirse Ronan, star of The Lovely Bones, Vera Famiga who starred in Up In The Air, and Kristen Stewart all in white.
Ronan in Burberry
The BAFTA nominated actress looked elegant in Marchesa
The Twilight star won the Orange Rising Star Award
Stewart looked great in platform heels and a sequined Chanel dress, but still looks really uncomfortable at events like this. Perhaps she should have asked her co-star Anna Kendrick for tips.
Bright and stylish in Pucci and Jimmy Choo sandals
Romola Garai also brightened up the red carpet at the BAFTA’s in a floral Erdem dress.
Proof that floral is still a key trend
Course, the guys can scrub up pretty well at a red carpet event too. So congratulations to Colin Firth, who won a BAFTA for best leading actor. Oh and Robert Pattinson was about too. Hurrah!
Lovely Mr Darcy.. I mean Colin Firth
Yum!
So with the BAFTA’s over, we’ve got the Oscars to look forward to in March. Let’s hope us Brits can bag some more awards there too.
What do you think of the outfits at this years BAFTA ceremony?
